Through writing this blog over the last two years I’ve tried and tested lots of different ways to lower cholesterol naturally without having to resort to statins. Here’s a list of the tips I’ve found most useful in helping to lower my cholesterol and keep it low:-

I can’t believe it’s now been over a year since I started my cholesterol-lowering journey and started writing this blog. The last 12 months have flown by so quickly. I had a health check up last Thursday, and I’m pleased to say that my cholesterol hasn’t increased since my last check up – in fact it’s gone down. My total cholesterol is currently 4.3 mmol/L, and my HDL (‘good’) cholesterol is 2.04 mmol/L.
All of these snacks contain at least one of these cholesterol-reducing foods: oats, almonds, peanuts, bananas, avocado, chickpeas, apples and flaxseeds. They’re also really tasty and nourishing, so should keep you full and satisfied until dinner time!
A great way to reduce cholesterol naturally is to add more beans to your diet. There are tons of ways to do this (here are some suggestions), but one of the easiest ways is to add them to your main meal. Not only do they help to lower cholesterol, but they’re also a good source of protein, and they help keep you fuller for longer.

Eggs contain a lot of cholesterol, but studies have shown that the cholesterol found in food has much less of an effect on blood cholesterol than the amount of saturated fat you eat. As eggs contain lots of vitamins and minerals, and are such a good source of high quality protein, they definitely shouldn’t be avoided if you have high cholesterol. But it’s still recommended that they’re eaten in moderation (see this blog post for details).
